Terms of Service
Welcome to LabDrop (https://labdrop.online). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of LabDrop's web application, file transfer capabilities, AI viva preparation tools, and related services.
By accessing or using LabDrop, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you may not use the service.
1. Purpose and Permitted Use
LabDrop is engineered primarily for students, educators, researchers, and developers who need an efficient, login-free method to transfer lab coursework, code files, homework, diagrams, and notes from shared laboratory computers to personal smartphones or laptops.
You may use LabDrop for lawful personal, educational, or professional purposes in compliance with all applicable local, national, and international laws.
2. Prohibited Uses and Acceptable Use Policy
To preserve system integrity and safety for educational institutions, you expressly agree NOT to:
- Upload Malicious Code: Upload or transmit viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware, or any executable binaries designed to damage or intercept computer hardware or networks. (LabDrop enforces server-level bans on
.exe,.bat,.cmd,.msi,.vbs,.ps1). - Violate Copyright or IP Rights: Upload or distribute content that infringes upon copyright, trademarks, patents, or trade secrets of third parties without proper authorization.
- Distribute Unlawful Content: Upload defamatory, obscene, pornographic, harassing, hate speech, or violent content.
- Abuse System Capacity: Attempt automated scraping, DDOS attacks, brute forcing transfer codes, or circumventing system rate limits (e.g. 250 MB per file, 1 GB per session).
- Commercial Resale: Resell, redistribute, or mirror the core transfer infrastructure without written permission.
3. Ephemeral File Retention & Automatic Deletion
Our platform operates on a strict ephemeral model:
- Guest Transfers: Expire exactly 30 minutes after upload. Files and metadata are irreversibly removed from storage buckets and database records.
- Saved Transfers: Expire after 7 days.
- No Guarantee of Recovery: Once files expire or are manually cancelled by the sender, they cannot be recovered under any circumstances. LabDrop bears no liability for unretrieved or expired transfers.
4. User Content & Intellectual Property Ownership
You retain 100% ownership of your files. LabDrop does not claim any intellectual property rights, licenses, or ownership over the code, text, documents, or data you transfer through the platform.
You grant LabDrop only the narrow, temporary, technical license necessary to store, route, and deliver your files to the intended recipient via QR code or short link.
5. Experimental AI Features (Viva & Exam Prep)
LabDrop includes optional AI-powered study assistance tools (Viva preparation, code summarization, and exam drills). Please be advised:
- AI-generated answers are provided for educational and revision purposes only.
- Generative AI models may occasionally produce inaccurate, incomplete, or simplified explanations. Always verify critical facts, formulas, and code against your official course syllabus and textbooks.
- LabDrop is not liable for academic outcomes or grades resulting from the use of AI study outputs.
6. Third-Party Advertisements & Links
Our website displays third-party advertisements via Google AdSense to sustain free server bandwidth and cloud infrastructure. We are not responsible for the contents, products, or privacy practices of external websites linked within advertisements. Interacting with third-party ads is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
LabDrop is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, statutory, or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or continuously accessible during college network blackouts.
- Files uploaded will be completely immune from accidental data loss before expiration (you should always maintain backups).
- The platform meets all institutional firewall requirements of every university or corporate lab.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, LabDrop, its founder (Yuvaan Kaarthikeyaa Adulapuram), and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the service, including data loss or academic interruptions.
9. Modifications to These Terms
We reserve the right to revise these Terms at any time to reflect software updates, legal obligations, or service improvements. Changes are effective immediately upon publication on this page with an updated timestamp. Continued use of LabDrop constitutes acceptance of revised Terms.
